Ilanit Illouz looks to the ground like an archaeologist to examine the properties and marks of places imbued with history. This constitutes phusis, or natural physics, which becomes the basis of the visual artist's research. The four elements—water, earth, fire, and air—and their depletion guide her artistic project. The visible or invisible trace becomes the narrative thread of Ilanit Illouz's work. Dolines (Dolines) is the first project based on this body of work of the same name. Comprising three risograph-printed booklets—"Dolines, Document I" / "Dolines, Document II" and "Kiriat Ata"—this limited-edition artist's book is considered by the artist as a working document of latent, evolving works, signifying a pivotal moment in her artistic process.
